Decomposes into formamide and water when heated, primary industrial use.
Used to obtain formic acid by reaction with dilute acids.
Can serve as a storage form for formic acid.
Used in palladium on carbon (Pd/C) reduction of functional groups.
Used for reductive amination of aldehydes and ketones (Leuckart reaction).
Used as a buffer in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and compatible with LC/MS.
AR/GR grade is used as a laboratory reagent.
